The Kalamazoo County Lake House
Two hard-working empty-nesters—who aimed to entice their family to visit often—desired a high-end respite on the lake. They hoped the home would feel like a relaxing, seasonal resort.
The property’s existing structure—older and small—was torn down, but more challenges presented themselves. Elevation changes meant the need for a walkout basement, major infrastructure to manage drainage, and efforts to retain earth.
The Kalamazoo County Lake House features beautiful custom rosewood paneling throughout. There are custom-made walnut doors and stacked stone exteriors. The two-story great room features grand glass windows facing the lake. And each bedroom is its own suite.
Exciting additions include the theater room, the boxcar-style bunk room with a hidden cabinet door leading to a full bathroom.
